A 75-year-old widow, Chandni Bibi, was murdered by her stepson, Muhammad Raza, aged 45, in the Sroba Chaudhrian area of Rawalpindi on Friday. According to witnesses, a minor domestic argument quickly escalated, prompting Raza to strike Chandni Bibi on the head with an axe and subsequently attack her with a knife, causing fatal injuries.

Neighbour Rushed to Help, Critically Injured

Hearing the commotion, a neighbour, Raqeeban Bibi, attempted to intervene. She was struck on the head with the axe and critically injured. Despite her wounds, she managed to raise the alarm, drawing local residents to the scene.

Police and Rescue Response

Police and rescue teams arrived promptly, shifting the injured Raqeeban Bibi to hospital for treatment, while Chandni Bibi’s body was sent for post-mortem examination. Evidence was collected at the scene, and Muhammad Raza was taken into custody.
