K P CM Leads Defiant Sit In After Repeated Attempts to See Imran Khan Blocked

PTI warns that Imran Khan’s continued isolation raises serious concerns over transparency and safety.

PTI Says Imran Khan Being Held in Unlawful Isolation

Political temperatures soared on Thursday as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) intensified its demand for immediate, unhindered access to former prime minister Imran Khan, accusing authorities of hiding his health condition behind what the party calls an unprecedented, unlawful blockade.

PTI spokesperson Zulfikar Bukhari stated that no family member or lawyer had been allowed to meet Khan since November 4, calling it a clear breach of the jail manual and a “deliberate attempt to keep the nation in the dark.”
He said the secrecy surrounding Khan’s health had triggered genuine fear among party leadership and millions of supporters across Pakistan.

Repeated Attempts Blocked — PTI Says System ‘Terrified’ of Transparency

A PTI delegation again approached Adiala Jail on Thursday, but access was denied. The party claims weekly meetings guaranteed by law are being silently suspended, without notices or explanations.

Bukhari said the pattern was deliberate: “Whenever PTI demands transparency, the system panics. They know the public stands with Imran Khan, not with this administration.”

K-P CM Leads Sit-In After Being Stopped from Meeting Imran Khan

Tensions exploded on the ground when Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi was stopped by heavy police deployment outside Adiala Jail. This was, he said, his eighth peaceful attempt to meet the PTI chairman.

Afridi staged a sit-in on the road, declaring that a representative of 250 million citizens had been repeatedly humiliated.
He accused federal authorities of treating K-P “like a stepchild” and warned that such high-handedness was fracturing national unity.

PTI Says Government Has Lost Moral and Legal Authority

Speaking at the Gorakhpur checkpoint, Afridi said PTI had exhausted every legal and democratic channel.
He argued the federal government “has neither the authority nor the legitimacy” to decide who can and cannot meet the former prime minister, especially when courts have already issued guidelines.

Afridi also pointed to record-low by-election turnout, saying it exposed a deep crisis of public trust in the government’s mandate.

Economic Mismanagement and Mass Migration Highlighted

Afridi slammed the government’s economic performance, citing IMF criticism of fiscal governance and pointing to Rs5,300 billion in unresolved corruption.
He argued unemployment and hopelessness were pushing Pakistan’s youth to leave the country in unprecedented numbers.

Protest Builds Momentum as Supporters Join CM Afridi

As Afridi marched again toward Adiala Jail, PTI workers joined him in a growing roadside protest.
Although many later dispersed due to police pressure, Afridi remained with a dedicated core group for nearly two hours — a symbolic gesture PTI says reflects the unshakeable loyalty the party commands.

PTI Senators Erupt in Parliament

Inside the Senate, PTI lawmakers fiercely protested what they called “state-enforced solitary confinement.”
Senator Faisal Javed warned that prolonged isolation violated both the jail manual and human rights standards.

Government Claims Amenities — PTI Says ‘Irrelevant Distractions’

Responding in the House, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry claimed Khan was receiving permitted facilities such as meals, physiotherapy, a television, and exercise equipment.
PTI dismissed the claims as “irrelevant distractions”, arguing that basic facilities do not excuse violations of law, blocked meetings, and refusal to follow court orders.

PTI parliamentary leader Barrister Ali Zafar demanded a concrete, written meeting date. He refused to proceed with Senate business until access to Imran Khan was guaranteed, forcing the session’s adjournment.

PTI Doubts Official Statements on Imran Khan’s Condition

Khan has been incarcerated since August 2023 on a 14-year corruption conviction, which PTI maintains is politically motivated.
Online campaigns intensified with the hashtag #WHEREISIMRANKHAN, reflecting rising public anxiety.

Rumours about a possible transfer to a more restrictive facility circulated widely.
Although a jail official told Reuters that Khan was “in good health,” PTI leaders insist that without family or legal access, such assurances carry no credibility.
