Discussions to cover regional, international issues and multilateral cooperation
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari will embark on an official visit to the Republic of Iraq from December 20 to 24, at the invitation of the Iraqi president, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported.
A Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement emphasized that the visit highlights the longstanding, brotherly ties between Pakistan and Iraq, rooted in shared faith, culture, and mutual respect.
High-Level Meetings on Bilateral Relations
During the visit, President Zardari is scheduled to hold meetings with Iraqi leadership to review the full spectrum of bilateral relations and identify ways to strengthen cooperation across key sectors. These include:
- Trade and investment
- Energy and reconstruction
- Manpower and technology
- Education and people-to-people exchanges
Discussions are also expected to cover regional and international developments, as well as collaboration at multilateral forums.
Focus on Strategic Partnership and People-to-People Links
The official visit aims to reinforce traditionally warm and cordial ties between the two nations, explore new avenues for partnership, and enhance people-to-people linkages, particularly in the context of religious tourism and economic cooperation.
