Recognition highlights contribution to regional peace and security
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has been awarded Saudi Arabia’s highest national honour, the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellent Class, during his official visit to the Kingdom, highlighting the strong and longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
According to an official statement, the honour was conferred under a Royal Decree issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The award recognises Field Marshal Asim Munir’s distinguished military service, leadership, and pivotal role in strengthening defence cooperation and strategic coordination between the two countries.
During the visit, the Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff met Saudi Minister of Defence Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The discussions focused on regional security developments, military and defence collaboration, strategic engagement, and emerging geopolitical challenges.
Both sides reaffirmed the historic, deep-rooted, and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, underscoring their shared commitment to mutual security interests and long-term strategic partnership.
The honour also reflects Field Marshal Asim Munir’s contributions toward regional peace and stability, including sustained cooperation in counter-terrorism and security initiatives. Saudi leadership commended his professionalism, strategic vision, and consistent efforts to deepen institutional and defence linkages between the two nations.
Expressing his gratitude, Field Marshal Asim Munir thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Saudi leadership for the recognition. He described the award as a symbol of the enduring bonds between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the security, stability, and prosperity of the Kingdom.
