Public Holiday Declared on December 27 in Sindh
KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on December 27 to commemorate the 18th death anniversary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The holiday will be observed across the province, with government offices, schools and local councils remaining closed to honor the late leader.
Official Notification Issued
A formal notification issued by the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department stated that all provincial government offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations and local councils in Sindh will remain closed on December 27.
The notification confirmed that the holiday is being observed in remembrance of Benazir Bhutto’s services to democracy and the nation.
Another Holiday Earlier in the Week
Sindh will also observe a public holiday on December 25, which coincides with Christmas Day and the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
On that day as well, government offices across the province will remain closed to honor Pakistan’s founder and to mark the religious holiday.
Two Holidays in One Week
With December 25 and December 27 both declared public holidays, Sindh residents will observe two official holidays in the same week, affecting government services, educational institutions and public offices.
