Lahore Sees Marked Improvement in Air Quality AQI at 110

Increased wind speed and humidity help disperse pollutants

Lahore: Air quality in Lahore showed noticeable improvement on Saturday as the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) dropped to 110, offering partial relief to residents after days of heavy smog.

According to official details, higher atmospheric humidity played a key role in clearing a significant portion of harmful smog particles from the air.

Wind and Weather Aid Smog Dispersion

Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said that an increase in wind speed also contributed to dispersing pollutants across the city, leading to measurable improvements in air quality.

She added that anti-smog measures were being implemented effectively under the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, with authorities maintaining pressure on major sources of pollution.

Crackdown on Polluters Continues

Marriyum Aurangzeb said actions against smoke-emitting vehicles and polluting industries remained ongoing. She noted that brick kilns were under strict monitoring to ensure full compliance with environmental regulations.

“Continuous monitoring has resulted in clear and visible improvement in air quality,” the senior minister stated.

Public Advised to Take Precautions

Despite the improvement, authorities urged residents to remain cautious. The Punjab senior minister advised careful driving during periods of low visibility and encouraged patients and vulnerable individuals to use face masks when outdoors.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Health Department also issued guidelines, advising the public to follow precautionary measures during foggy conditions to avoid health and traffic risks.
