NCCIA filed reference over alleged defamation of state institutions
The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi after he failed to appear before the court in a defamation case involving alleged misleading statements against state institutions.
According to court documents, the case has been registered under the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and pertains to accusations of misleading allegations and defamation directed at state institutions.

The proceedings were initiated by the National Counter Terrorism and Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), which filed the case against the KP chief minister following an inquiry into the matter.
Court Orders Arrest
During the hearing, the court noted Afridi’s absence and subsequently ordered that he be arrested and produced before the bench to face the charges.
Hearing Adjourned
The District and Sessions Court has adjourned the next hearing until January 17, allowing authorities time to execute the arrest warrant and complete necessary preparations for further legal proceedings.
