Kahna police operation exposes kidnapping racket within department
A shocking case of police misconduct has surfaced in Lahore, where a Crime Control Department (CCD) inspector was arrested along with two accomplices for kidnapping a young man and demanding ransom.
According to officials, Inspector Javed Iqbal, Constable Tauseef, and a rented car driver were caught red-handed near LOS during a raid conducted by Kahna police. Authorities recovered weapons and ransom money from the suspects’ possession.
Footage Shows Arrest During Ransom Collection
Video footage of the operation has gone viral, showing police apprehending the suspects while collecting ransom cash. Another clip shows the official police van used in the abduction, confirming that the accused exploited official uniforms and vehicles to carry out their crime.
Officials said the case was initially registered on a CCD complaint, though the Operations Wing, which actually made the arrests, was not mentioned in the report.
Victim Kidnapped Under Guise of Official Raid
Investigations revealed that on October 27, the accused abducted a youth named Waleed from his home in Kahna, pretending to be on an official CCD raid. The suspects seized his laptop, phones, and CCTV footage before demanding Rs50 million from his family.
The victim was reportedly involved in Bitcoin trading, which the kidnappers attempted to exploit for ransom.
Police Confirm Arrest, Recover Ransom and Weapons
The Kidnapping for Ransom Cell confirmed that the crime was planned to appear like a legitimate CCD operation.
Weapons and cash were seized from the arrested officials, and further interrogation is underway to identify more individuals involved. Authorities stated that a case has been registered against the inspector and his associates, and strict departmental action will follow. The incident has raised concerns about abuse of authority and internal accountability within the force.
