PIA Rolls Out Online Check-In for More Cities, Dispels Rumors About UK Flight Restart

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has taken another step toward digital transformation by expanding its online check-in facility to include five more domestic airports. Passengers traveling from Multan, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Quetta, and Skardu can now check in via the PIA mobile application or official website—reducing time spent in queues and making the airport experience significantly smoother.

Previously available only at select major hubs, the expansion reflects PIA’s continued efforts to modernize its services and make air travel more efficient and accessible across the country. According to the airline, this service is part of a larger initiative to promote contactless, tech-enabled travel that meets international standards. Passengers are encouraged to check in online to save time and avoid unnecessary delays at check-in counters.

Travelers can use the online check-in service to select seats and generate digital boarding passes before arriving at the airport. This development is especially significant for airports in remote or high-tourism areas like Skardu, where seasonal demand often leads to long wait times.

In parallel to these advancements, Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIAHCL) has addressed recent media speculation about the resumption of its UK-bound flights. In a formal statement, the airline clarified that the UK Civil Aviation Authority (UK CAA) has granted regulatory clearance to the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA)—not to any individual airline.

This clearance signifies that Pakistani aviation standards are now recognized as compliant with international norms. However, it does not automatically authorize any airline, including PIA, to resume operations to the UK. Each airline must undergo a separate application process for an operating license and route-specific approvals.

PIA emphasized that while this development is a positive milestone, the airline’s return to UK airspace is subject to further regulatory procedures. The carrier called for responsible reporting and clarified that references to PIA in some media outlets were speculative and not based on any confirmed flight resumption.
