Naseem Shah, Salman Ali Agha and Rizwan record impressive gains in ICC rankings update

KARACHI – November 5, 2025: Pakistan’s leading cricketers experienced mixed fortunes in the latest ICC rankings update, as former captain Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi slipped in the ODI charts, while Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha, and Naseem Shah surged upward after their recent performances.

Babar drops to fifth in ODI batting chart

Babar Azam, previously ranked fourth, fell to fifth place with 728 points in the ICC Men’s ODI batting rankings, as India’s Shubman Gill and New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell posted strong performances to overtake him.

Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan climbed one place to 23rd, while opener Fakhar Zaman rose to 26th.
Salman Ali Agha made the biggest leap jumping nine places to 30th with 569 points — following his match-winning knock against South Africa in the series opener.

Meanwhile, Imam-ul-Haq slipped to 42nd, and Saim Ayub retained 53rd with 509 points.

Global ODI leaders remain steady

At the top, India’s Rohit Sharma continues to dominate the ODI batting list, followed by Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran in second.
New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell moved to third, pushing Shubman Gill to fourth  just ahead of Pakistan’s Babar Azam.

Shaheen slips, Naseem rises sharply

In bowling, Pakistan’s ODI captain Shaheen Shah Afridi dropped to 15th with 587 points, but teammate Naseem Shah made a remarkable jump of 10 places to 33rd after consistent wicket-taking spells.

Spinner Abrar Ahmed climbed to 37th, while Mohammad Nawaz advanced three places to 69th.

Globally, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan retained the No. 1 spot, with Keshav Maharaj (South Africa) second and England’s Jofra Archer climbing to third.

Pakistan shines in T20 rankings

In T20s, India’s Abhishek Sharma has emerged as the No. 1 ranked batter.
Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan reached 11th place, while Babar Azam jumped nine spots to 30th, and Saim Ayub climbed 10 places to 39th. Salman Ali Agha also moved up to 54th.

Among bowlers, Varun Chakravarti (India) leads the chart, while Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed retained eighth position.
Shaheen Shah Afridi advanced three places to 13th, reflecting steady progress in the shorter format.
