Lahore, November 10: Police have arrested a woman and her two daughters for attacking a polio vaccination team in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat area, leaving a female health worker injured during the nationwide immunization campaign.
According to SP Model Town, the assault occurred on Chandra Roy Road during a door-to-door vaccination drive.
Details of the Incident
Authorities said Samina Bibi, along with her daughters, became aggressive when the polio team arrived at their residence. During the altercation, polio worker Saba Taj was struck on the head with a brick, sustaining visible injuries.
Other members of the team managed to alert nearby police officers, who reached the scene and arrested the assailants on the spot.
Police Response and Investigation
A case has been registered against Samina Bibi and her daughters under relevant sections of the penal code. Police have assured swift and strict legal action.
SP Model Town confirmed that the injured health worker was taken to a nearby hospital and is now in stable condition.
Officials emphasized that protection for polio teams will be reinforced to ensure the safety of field workers participating in the country’s immunization efforts.
