Punjab CM and federal minister express grief as investigators examine cause
Three Motorway Police officers lost their lives early Monday when a Karachi to Multan passenger bus crashed into their patrol vehicle on the M5 Motorway near Uch Sharif. Officials described the incident as a devastating and avoidable tragedy.
Bus Ploughs Into Patrolling Mobile
According to the Motorway Police spokesperson, the incident occurred at location 662 on the M5 Multan Motorway. A passenger bus travelling from Karachi struck the police mobile from behind with significant force. All three officers inside the patrol vehicle died at the scene.
The deceased were identified as Sub Inspector Muhammad Mushtaq, Assistant Sub Inspector Nasir Abbas, and Constable Osama. They were heading home after completing their duty shift.
Rescue Teams Respond and Begin Relief Efforts
Rescue teams along with the sector commander and DSP reached the site shortly after the collision. Emergency crews worked to clear debris and secure the motorway. Authorities confirmed that rescue operations continued throughout the morning while investigators began assessing the circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
Senior Leadership Expresses Grief
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of the officers. She offered condolences to the families and prayed for strength for the bereaved. She said the officers sacrifice while performing their duty would not be forgotten and directed officials to extend full support to the affected families.
Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan paid tribute to the three officers, calling them dedicated and brave members of the force. He promised a complete and transparent investigation into the cause of the accident and pledged all possible assistance to the families of the martyrs.

The Motorway Police described the incident as a heartbreaking loss for the entire force. Officials noted that the fallen officers were engaged in routine work to ensure the safety of thousands of daily commuters.
