Field Marshal Asim Munir vows decisive response to any threats against Pakistan’s sovereignty
Army Chief Highlights Province’s Vital Role in National Progress at GHQ Workshop
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir on Tuesday declared that Balochistan is the pride of Pakistan, emphasising that its immense natural and economic potential must be harnessed for the country’s collective progress.
He was addressing participants of the 17th Balochistan National Workshop at General Headquarters (GHQ), according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
‘Balochistan Home to Patriotic and Resilient People’
The Army Chief praised the people of Balochistan as highly capable, patriotic, and resilient, calling them the “true asset of the nation.”
He said that the armed forces and the government were jointly striving to ensure public welfare and to advance social and economic development across the province.
“Balochistan’s vast economic potential must be fully utilised for its progress and prosperity,” the Field Marshal said, noting that youth engagement would play a central role in ensuring sustainable development and long-term stability.
Youth Must Lead the Path of Progress, Not Division
Highlighting the importance of unity and constructive leadership, General Munir urged the young generation of Balochistan to rise above political differences and focus on development-oriented goals.
“The youth must unite on an agenda of progress, peace, and stability — not on political divides,” he said, underscoring the need for a shared vision for national growth.
He further noted that education, employment opportunities, and inclusive governance were vital to securing the province’s prosperous future.
Terrorism and External Interference Will Be Defeated
The COAS reaffirmed that security operations against terrorist elements were ongoing and would continue until Balochistan was completely free of terrorism.
He said that sabotage groups, backed and funded by India, were trying to destabilise the province, but assured that such attempts would be decisively countered.
“Pakistan desires peace and stability in the region,” General Munir stated, “but any violation of our national sovereignty will receive a firm and resolute response.”
A Province at the Heart of Pakistan’s Future
Analysts view the Army Chief’s remarks as a reaffirmation of the government’s commitment to integrating Balochistan into the national economic mainstream through infrastructure, resource, and human development initiatives.
Balochistan, which is Pakistan’s largest province by area and rich in natural resources, remains central to several national projects, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
By promoting youth inclusion and ensuring security, officials hope to transform the region into a hub of trade, energy, and industry — vital for Pakistan’s long-term stability and prosperity.
