Fake Army Colonel Nabbed in Daska for Attempting to Influence Land Dispute

DASKA – In a startling case of impersonation and attempted fraud, Daska police have arrested a man who was posing as a serving colonel of the Pakistan Army in an effort to interfere in an ongoing land dispute. The suspect tried to pressure Daska Assistant Commissioner (AC) Sadia Jaffer into taking favorable action in the matter by falsely claiming military credentials.

According to officials, the man initially contacted the AC via phone, identifying himself as a serving colonel. He insisted on urgent intervention in a private land ownership case. After the call, he continued to send follow-up messages to the AC, maintaining the false identity and pushing for administrative action.

However, AC Sadia Jaffer became suspicious due to grammatical errors, inconsistencies, and the overall tone of the communication—elements uncharacteristic of formal military correspondence. Her concerns deepened when the impersonator mentioned that his “representative” would soon be visiting her office.

Acting swiftly, she alerted DSP City Daska and requested an immediate investigation. The police traced the suspect’s number and location, leading to his arrest. A formal case has been registered against him on charges of impersonation, attempted fraud, and unlawful interference in official duties.

Authorities have emphasized that impersonating a military officer is a serious criminal offense and vowed strict legal action against such fraudulent attempts to misuse state institutions for personal gain.

In a separate development, Commissioner Gujranwala Syed Naveed Haider Shirazi chaired a Divisional Development Working Party meeting, where new schemes were approved for various districts including Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, and Hafizabad. The approved projects, to be executed by the Punjab Housing and Local Government Department, include street construction in Kamoke and a boundary wall for a graveyard in Nandwala.
