Officials link Islamabad bombing to Afghan based Khawarij network

Preliminary probe points to cross-border coordination behind deadly Islamabad explosion

Evidence has surfaced suggesting the involvement of Afghan-based elements and the Khawarij faction in the suicide bombing outside Islamabad’s District Judicial Complex earlier this week.

According to official security sources, the Taliban regime in Afghanistan appears to be complicit in acts of terrorism targeting Pakistan. “The Taliban regime is conducting open acts of terrorism within Pakistan,” an official source said, citing intelligence intercepts and online communication patterns traced to Afghanistan.

The blast, which occurred around 12:45 pm, left 12 people martyred and 27 others injured, when the attacker detonated explosives near a police vehicle outside the G-11 court complex.

Threats circulated on Afghan social media hours before blast

Sources revealed that posts from Afghan social media accounts linked to Taliban affiliates began appearing hours before the explosion. Several accounts on X (formerly Twitter) carried ominous messages, including one reading “Coming Soon Islamabad.”

One such account, Amaj News, published threats on November 2, referencing possible attacks on Pakistani cities. During a military parade in Afghanistan, similar anti-Pakistan slogans and threats were shared online, with users speaking of “raising the Afghan flag in Lahore” and “setting Islamabad ablaze.”

Officials said this pre-attack chatter demonstrates a pattern of coordinated online propaganda and possible foreknowledge of the assault from within Afghanistan.

Islamabad, Delhi blasts part of wider hostile network

Security agencies believe the Islamabad court bombing and the recent explosion in Delhi may be linked through coordinated efforts by states hostile to Pakistan, with the shared aim of destabilising the region.

“Evidence indicates collusion between Khawarij militants and Afghan operatives,” one senior official stated, noting that intelligence reports have mapped digital communication between nodes operating across the border.

Blast details and forensic findings

Police officials confirmed that the attacker’s head was recovered from the site for identification. The explosion took place among vehicles parked outside the District Judicial Complex, and was powerful enough to be heard across the Police Lines Headquarters.

The bodies of all 12 victims have been identified, while 27 injured individuals were taken to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for treatment. Forensic teams have collected DNA and explosive residue samples from the scene, which are now under analysis.

Government response

Authorities have heightened security alerts across Islamabad and are coordinating with intelligence agencies to trace the network behind the bombing. Officials said that Pakistan is gathering evidence to present through diplomatic channels regarding Afghanistan’s failure to curb terror elements operating from its soil.
