PCB finalises 10-year extensions with major franchises ahead of PSL’s expansion to eight teams.

Three PSL Franchises Sign New 10-Year Agreements

LAHORE: Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators on Monday renewed their ownership and franchise rights for another decade, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed.

The long-term extensions come as the PSL prepares to expand from six to eight teams starting its 11th edition next year, marking one of the most significant growth phases in the league’s history.

Valuations Conducted by Global Firm

According to the PCB, the agreements were finalised based on market valuations determined by global audit and consulting firm Ernst & Young (EY), following what the board described as a “comprehensive and transparent assessment”.

The renewals secure three of the league’s most popular and commercially successful franchises for the next 10 years.

Lahore Qalandars: Most Valuable Franchise Renews Early

Lahore Qalandars, the PSL’s highest-valued franchise and champions of three of the last four seasons under Pakistan ODI captain Shaheen Shah Afridi were among the first to sign the extension.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi praised the Qalandars’ ownership for transforming the team into a national and global cricketing brand.

“It gives me immense pleasure that Lahore Qalandars will continue with their current owners,” Naqvi said.
“Atif Rana and Sameen Rana have worked extremely hard to turn this franchise into a household name across Pakistan and a reputable brand around the world.”

Peshawar Zalmi: One of PSL’s Strongest Brands

Peshawar Zalmi, former champions in 2017 and consistently one of the most recognisable and marketable PSL sides also renewed their rights.

Led by owner Javed Afridi, the franchise generated the highest viewership last season and continues to maintain one of the largest fan bases across Pakistan and overseas.

Mohsin Naqvi commended Afridi’s leadership:

“Javed Afridi’s commitment, professionalism and passion have elevated the Zalmi brand into one of Pakistan’s most dynamic and admired sporting entities. His decision to renew reflects strong belief in the league’s future potential.”

Quetta Gladiators Join Renewals Quetta Gladiators also finalised their 10-year extension, reinforcing stability among the league’s founding franchises as the PSL enters its next chapter.
