CM Afridi Allocates Special Scholarships for Orphans
When the state invests in orphaned children, it invests in the nation’s future. CM Afridi’s visit reflects a commitment to dignity, education, and equality for all underprivileged children.
Chief Minister Mohammad Sohail Afridi on Sunday announced a special quota under the merit scholarship scheme for children of Zamung Kor Model Institute, established for orphaned and underprivileged children.
He also approved a complete waiver of fees for these children enrolled in government colleges. For those studying in private colleges, the provincial government will bear their education costs.
Focus on Quality Education and Student Welfare
During his visit, CM Afridi instructed the installation of CCTV cameras in classrooms and immediate hiring of teaching staff. He emphasized that students are the future of the nation and any negligence in meeting their needs will not be tolerated. He also announced the establishment of a dedicated complaint cell to allow residents to convey grievances directly to the Chief Minister’s Office.
Digital Reforms and Transportation
The CM expressed dissatisfaction with the existing accounts and stipend systems. He directed both to be shifted to digital platforms immediately. He also ordered the provision of transport facilities for children travelling to colleges and sports academies.
Health, Nutrition, and Safety
CM Afridi inspected the institute and reviewed the quality of food. He instructed that children receive nutritious and hygienic meals. He also ordered an immediate inquiry into the removal of 11 children from the institute and ensured distribution of hygiene kits among all residents.
Commitment to Moral and Constitutional Responsibility
CM Afridi stated that caring for orphaned and underprivileged children is both a constitutional and moral duty of the state. He reaffirmed that the institutes, established under the Ehsaas vision of PTI founder Imran Khan, will operate according to their original purpose. He vowed to personally oversee all matters related to these institutions.
Empowering Girls and Promoting Confidence
Girls from Zamung Kor visited the Chief Minister’s House on Afridi’s invitation. They received a guided tour, enjoyed a special luncheon, and were given gifts. CM Afridi told the girls that they are the true owners of the institute. He assured them of continued support until they complete their education and become self-reliant.
Critical Analysis: Impact on Women’s Education
This initiative has strong implications for girls’ education:
- Providing scholarships and fee waivers reduces economic barriers for girls.
- Direct engagement with female students builds confidence and leadership skills.
- Ensuring safe transport and proper facilities encourages regular attendance and academic participation.
- The model sets a precedent for women-focused educational policies in other underprivileged areas.
If implemented effectively, this program could increase literacy, self-reliance, and empowerment of women from marginalized communities.
