Islamabad cites Kulbhushan Yadav case as evidence of state-sponsored activity
Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Saturday strongly rejected what it described as baseless and irresponsible allegations made by India, asserting that sabotage and extrajudicial killings through proxies remain a persistent pattern of Indian conduct.
In a statement, the Foreign Office (FO) condemned remarks by the Indian foreign minister, saying such statements were aimed at diverting attention from India’s own failures.
FO Rejects ‘Irresponsible Allegations’
The FO spokesperson said India was attempting to cover up its shortcomings by leveling unfounded accusations against Pakistan.
“India’s role in promoting terrorism and instability in the region is evident,” the spokesperson said, adding that the Kulbhushan Yadav case provided indisputable proof of state-sponsored terrorism.
Regional Stability and Ideological Concerns
The Foreign Office also expressed concern over what it termed the Hindutva extremist ideology, warning that it posed a serious threat to peace and stability in the region.
The statement reiterated Pakistan’s position on Jammu and Kashmir, describing India’s presence there as illegal and oppressive, and reaffirmed Islamabad’s continued support for the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people.
Indus Waters Treaty Emphasised
Addressing water-related concerns, the MoFA said the Indus Waters Treaty was an international obligation, stressing that unilateral actions or violations were unacceptable.
“Any violation of the Indus Waters Treaty will jeopardise regional stability,” the spokesperson warned, adding that Pakistan would take all necessary measures to safeguard its water rights.
