Pakistan on Thursday welcomed United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on a one-day official visit, a development being seen as a positive step toward deepening ties between the two long-standing partners.

As the UAE president’s aircraft entered Pakistani airspace, it was escorted by Pakistan Air Force fighter jets, which offered a ceremonial aerial salute while providing security for the delegation.
