Heathrow Terminal 4 to receive PIA operations
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the resumption of direct flights to London, marking the national carrier’s return to the British capital after a gap of six years.
Flights to Begin March 29
According to the airline, PIA will operate four weekly direct flights between Islamabad and London starting March 29. The flights will land at London Heathrow Airport, utilising the airport’s modern Terminal 4 facilities.
A PIA spokesperson described the development as a major milestone, stating that the restoration of the London route reflects the airline’s renewed focus on expanding its international operations.
Historic and Strategic Route
London has historically been one of PIA’s most significant international destinations and was among the airline’s earliest overseas routes. Officials said the return to London holds both symbolic and commercial importance for the national carrier.
UK Network Continues to Grow
In addition to the newly announced London service, PIA is currently operating three weekly flights to Manchester, further strengthening its presence in the United Kingdom.
The expanded UK network is expected to improve connectivity for passengers travelling between Pakistan and the UK, particularly benefiting the large Pakistani diaspora.
Boost for International Operations
The resumption of London flights is being viewed as a positive step in PIA’s efforts to rebuild its global route network and regain market share on key long-haul destinations.
Aviation observers say the move could help restore passenger confidence and enhance the airline’s competitiveness in the European market.
