Bank staff to attend offices as usual
ISLAMABAD: All banks across Pakistan will remain closed for public transactions on Thursday, January 1, 2026, following a bank holiday announced by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
SBP Notification Issued
According to an official notification issued by the central bank, public dealings will remain suspended on January 1 on account of the bank holiday.
The directive applies to all commercial banks, development finance institutions (DFIs), and microfinance banks operating in the country.
Staff to Attend Offices
The SBP clarified that while customer-facing services will remain unavailable, employees of banks, DFIs, and microfinance banks will attend offices as per routine.
Officials said the measure is part of the annual banking calendar and does not affect internal operations.
Advice for Customers
Customers have been advised to plan their financial transactions accordingly. Digital banking services, ATMs, and online platforms are expected to remain operational unless otherwise notified by individual banks.
