“Gujar Khan Tragedy: Father Arrested for Double Murder”
Suspect in Custody
A man, identified as Nadeem Sarwar, surrendered to authorities on Wednesday morning after allegedly killing his daughter and her friend in Gujar Khan, Rawalpindi district.
Victims Identified
The victims were 22-year-old Shanail Zahra and 22-year-old Rehmanullah. Shanail worked as a receptionist, and Rehmanullah, a resident of Peshawar and son of Rozi Khan, served as a ward boy at Potohar Medical Complex.
Incident Details
Police reports suggest the shooting was linked to a marriage-related dispute. Nadeem reportedly opened fire after finding Shanail and Rehmanullah together at his home in the Takia Baba Rahim Shah area. Both victims died on the spot, and their bodies were sent for post-mortem examinations.
Injuries to Family Members
Nadeem’s wife was also injured during the attack, sustaining three gunshot wounds. She was hospitalized in serious condition.
Legal Action Initiated
City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani instructed authorities to register a case against the suspect under:
- Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code – Intentional murder (punishable by death or up to 25 years in prison)
- Section 311 of the Pakistan Penal Code – Honour killings (punishable by life imprisonment, up to 14 years, or death penalty)
