PCB Revises Tri Nation Series Schedule After Sri Lanka ODIs

Zimbabwe team arrives in Islamabad as PCB finalises new fixtures

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revised the schedule for the upcoming tri-nation cricket series featuring Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe, confirming new dates and venues following adjustments to the ongoing Sri Lanka tour.

According to the updated plan, the series originally set to begin on November 17 will now start a day later, on November 18. All fixtures have been moved to the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, while the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, which was earlier scheduled to host some matches, will no longer be a venue for the event.

Zimbabwe Team Arrives, Declared State Guests

The Zimbabwe national cricket team arrived in Islamabad early Thursday morning, receiving a warm welcome as state guests. Following Sri Lanka’s status earlier this week, Zimbabwe’s players have now also been accorded state guest protocol by Pakistani authorities — a gesture underscoring Pakistan’s continued commitment to reviving international cricket at home.

The visiting side will undergo light training sessions ahead of the series opener, with strict security and hospitality measures in place.

Revised Fixtures Linked to Sri Lanka ODIs

The adjustment in the tri-nation schedule comes after Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) agreed to continue its ongoing tour of Pakistan, prompting the PCB to revise the remaining two One Day Internationals (ODIs).

Both ODIs between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will now take place at the Pindi Cricket Stadium the second ODI on November 14, followed by the final ODI on November 16.

These fixtures will conclude the bilateral series before the tri-nation event begins two days later.

Continuity in Pakistan’s Home Season

The PCB’s decision ensures smooth continuity in Pakistan’s home cricket season, which has seen packed schedules and successful hosting of visiting teams.

Officials say the shift to Rawalpindi aims to streamline logistics and minimise travel for teams between matches, while ensuring the pitch and weather conditions remain consistent throughout the competition.

The tri-nation series is expected to serve as crucial preparation for Pakistan ahead of its upcoming international commitments, offering fans a chance to witness high-intensity cricket as the year winds down.
