Family meetings of Imran Khan to be stopped warns Faisal Vawda

Senator warns of strict action against those challenging state institutions

Senator Faisal Vawda has stirred a fresh political storm by declaring that family meetings with Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf founder Imran Khan may now be stopped, alleging that these interactions are being misused for political messaging.
Speaking to Samaa TV and posting on X, Vawda used strikingly aggressive language, saying that individuals facing legal proceedings are allowed to meet family members only to check on well being and lawyers only for case matters. He claimed however that these meetings are being exploited to spread political communication from jail.

Vawda stated that family visits will now be restricted and that any lawyer passing political messages will also face consequences.

Vawda denounces alleged attempts to malign institutions

In a heated statement, Vawda accused certain individuals of attempting to destabilise the country and defame state institutions.
He warned that no leniency will be shown to those criticising the armed forces, adding that harsh action will be taken against anyone spreading what he described as unfounded allegations or conspiracy driven narratives.

He labelled such actions a dirty minded conspiracy and insisted that they would be stopped immediately and strictly.

Double response to hostility says Vawda

The senator further declared that respect will be reciprocated doubly where it is shown and that mistreatment will be met with double mistreatment.
He accused a political faction of dragging the country to a crossroads where returning to political stability has become increasingly difficult.
Vawda reiterated that all cases and investigations will now move to their logical conclusion.

Warning issued to KP government

Vawda directed a special warning at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government stating that if the chief minister creates further disturbance governor rule may be imposed which would end whatever politics remains.
He also claimed that individuals allegedly involved in the events of May nine and currently hiding in KP are fortunate for now.

Uzma Khan says Imran Khan remains in good health

Addressing reporters following her meeting with her brother at Adiala jail, Uzma Khan rejected the notion that Imran Khan is engaging in political messaging, saying he neither spoke to anyone nor allowed any arranged meetings.
She confirmed that the former prime minister is in good physical condition and recovering well, countering earlier claims circulated on social media.

Why this matters for political rights and the future of democratic space

The announcement of further restrictions on Imran Khan deepens concerns about political freedoms, due process, and the treatment of political detainees in Pakistan.
If family meetings and lawyer access are curtailed it raises significant questions about transparency, accountability, and the right of an incarcerated political leader to maintain lawful contact with family and counsel.
This also reflects the growing strain between state institutions and PTI supporters as the political climate becomes increasingly polarised. Whether these measures aim to control political messaging or to exert pressure on opponents, their impact on the democratic environment is already becoming visible.
