Lahore – August 2:
In a move to carry out essential repair work, the Lahore Ring Road has been temporarily closed today (Saturday) for a period of eight hours, disrupting regular traffic flow across key areas of the city.
The Lahore Ring Road Authority (LRRA) confirmed that the closure began early this morning and is expected to continue until the afternoon, likely concluding around 2:00 PM. The maintenance work involves road resurfacing, structural inspection, and lane marking, all deemed critical to ensure long-term traffic safety and smoother transport operations.
Citizens have been urged to avoid using the Ring Road during the maintenance window and instead rely on alternate routes. Heavy vehicles, commercial transport, and daily commuters have been particularly affected, as the road serves as one of Lahore’s most vital transport corridors.
Traffic police have been deployed at all major diversion points to help ease congestion and direct vehicles safely. Signage and traffic alerts have also been placed in adjoining areas to inform the public.
According to the City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL), the closure may lead to heavier traffic in nearby neighborhoods, including Gulberg, Johar Town, Cantt, DHA, and Thokar Niaz Baig. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
An LRRA spokesperson stated, “We regret the inconvenience, but this maintenance is necessary to prevent major disruptions in the future. We appreciate the public’s cooperation and patience.” Further updates are expected throughout the day on official LRRA and CTPL platforms, and residents are encouraged to stay tuned for real-time alerts.
