Police launch search operation after powerful blast destroys building
LAKKI MARWAT : A telephone exchange building in the Shah Tora Takhtikhel area of Sarai Naurang police limits was destroyed in a powerful explosion late Thursday night, after terrorists stormed the facility and planted explosives inside, police said on Friday.
The blast completely levelled the building, scattering debris and damaging communication equipment beyond repair.
Attackers Took Watchman Hostage
According to officials, the armed assailants entered the premises under the cover of darkness, overpowered the lone watchman on duty, and held him hostage while they planted explosives inside the structure.
After detonating the explosives, the attackers fled the scene, taking the watchman’s weapon but leaving him unharmed.
Police Response and Search Operation
Soon after the explosion, a heavy police contingent reached the scene and cordoned off the area. A search operation was launched to trace the perpetrators of the attack.
Authorities said the blast was so powerful that the exchange building collapsed instantly, leaving a crater at the site.
Police teams are collecting forensic evidence and examining CCTV footage from nearby areas.
Security Concerns Rise
