Miss Palestine Stuns Miss Universe Stage with Powerful Al Aqsa Inspired Dress

Miss Palestine’s heritage-inspired costume becomes a viral moment at Miss Universe 2024 in Thailand.

Miss Palestine Captivates Miss Universe Audience with Heritage-Focused Gown

Miss Universe Palestine, Nadeen Ayoub, delivered one of the most memorable moments of this year’s Miss Universe competition in Thailand as she appeared onstage wearing a gown that celebrated Palestinian culture, faith, and identity. Her attire quickly drew global attention for its elegance and profound symbolism.

A Gown Rooted in History and Identity

Designed by renowned Palestinian designer Naveen Elkady, the gown was an ivory masterpiece covered in tatreez embroidery—the traditional hand-stitched art that carries the stories of Palestinian villages, craftsmanship, and generational resilience.
The embroidery depicted olive trees, symbolic of patience and rootedness, along with motifs representing long-standing Palestinian heritage.

A Cape Carrying a Message to the World

The striking highlight of her ensemble was a hand-painted cape illustrating two sacred landmarks:

  • The Al-Aqsa Mosque, a central symbol of Palestinian identity
  • The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, representing Christian heritage in the region

By showcasing both iconic sites, Ayoub delivered a message of interfaith unity, harmony, and shared history between Muslim and Christian communities.
The cape also featured olive branches and a traditional key, a historic emblem associated with memory, hope, and the families displaced from their homes.

A Tribute from Head to Toe

Completing her cultural presentation, Ayoub wore a shatweh headpiece—a crown-like accessory traditionally worn by women from Bethlehem. Her star-shaped earrings added another layer of handcrafted Palestinian artistry.

Every element of her appearance fabric, art, symbols and colors presented a deeply personal narrative.
Ayoub described the outfit as “my heritage, my voice, my heart.”

Global Appreciation and Viral Impact

The moment instantly went viral, drawing admiration from viewers worldwide who praised her for using a global platform to honor her homeland through fashion, symbolism, and storytelling.
Her performance is being celebrated as one of the most culturally impactful appearances in recent Miss Universe history.
