Pakistan Under 19 Crush Afghanistan to Reach Tri Nation Series Final

Clinical bowling display dismisses Afghanistan for 105

Harare: Pakistan Under-19 produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat Afghanistan Under-19 by 133 runs, securing their place in the final of the tri-nation Under-19 ODI series at the Sunrise Sports Club on Friday.

The victory was built on a solid batting display, led by Sameer Minhas’ composed half-century, followed by a devastating bowling spell from Umar Zaib, who claimed five wickets to dismantle Afghanistan’s chase.

Solid Batting Effort Sets the Tone

After winning the toss, Pakistan elected to bat first and posted a competitive total of 238 for nine in their allotted 50 overs.

Sameer Minhas anchored the innings with a well-crafted 56, striking six boundaries and a six. Usman Khan provided valuable support with 43, while Ali Hasan Baloch added 39, helping Pakistan recover after losing early wickets.

Despite a steady platform, Pakistan lost momentum towards the end, with the remaining seven wickets contributing just 63 runs, preventing a late acceleration.

Umar Zaib Leads Bowling Domination

Afghanistan’s chase never gained stability as Pakistan’s bowlers applied relentless pressure. The Afghan side was bowled out for 105 in 30.2 overs, falling well short of the target.

Captain Mahboob Khan top-scored with 29, but lacked support from the rest of the batting lineup.

Umar Zaib was the standout performer, returning exceptional figures of 5 for 31 in 7.3 overs. He was well supported by Momin Qamar and Ahmed Hussain, who picked up two wickets each to complete the rout.

For Afghanistan, Salman Khan Ahmedzai and Zaitullah Shaheen were the most effective bowlers earlier in the innings, claiming two wickets apiece.

Eyes on the Final

The emphatic win confirms Pakistan Under-19’s place in the tri-nation series final, where they will face Zimbabwe Under-19 on January 6.

Before the title clash, Pakistan are scheduled to meet Zimbabwe Under-19 once more in their final league match on Sunday, offering a crucial preview of the final encounter.
