Man Arrested for Staging Own Kidnapping in Toba Tek Singh

Fake Kidnapping Case Uncovered

TOBA TEK SINGH: The Shorkot Cantonment Police have claimed to have solved a kidnapping case by arresting the alleged abductee, who was found to have staged his own abduction, officials said on Thursday.

According to a spokesperson for Jhang Police, Yasir Ali, a supervisor at a textile mill in Sheikhupura, allegedly disappeared after returning home to Chak 17 Gagh. A kidnapping case was subsequently registered on the complaint of his brother.

Police said Yasir had orchestrated the disappearance to demand ransom from his family and to summon his father, who resides abroad, in an effort to secure permission to marry a woman of his own choice.

Using modern technology and human intelligence, police traced and recovered Yasir from Dera Ghazi Khan, exposing what officials described as a fabricated abduction.

Jhang DPO Bilal Iftikhar Kiani said the timely action saved the family from severe mental distress and confirmed that the accused had been arrested and would be proceeded against under the law.
