Sharjeel Memon Announces Expansion of Pink Scooty Scheme to Empower Women of Sindh

Pink Scooty Scheme joins Sindh’s broader transport reform, including Pink and Electric Bus Services

KARACHI November 4 2025: The Sindh government is set to launch the second phase of the Pink Scooty Scheme, a women-focused mobility initiative aimed at promoting safe and independent travel. Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon confirmed that preparations are underway for the scheme’s expansion following its successful debut in September.

“The first phase of the Pink Scooty Scheme received an overwhelming response from the public,” Sharjeel said. “Dozens of women learned to drive, obtained licenses, and began using Pink Scooties for their daily commute.”

Empowering Women Through Mobility

Under the upcoming phase, the government will begin distributing new scooties to registered applicants. Women are being encouraged to obtain driving licenses, complete training courses, and register to participate in the initiative.

Sharjeel emphasized that the goal of the project is to help women reclaim their independence and travel safely with dignity and confidence, particularly those pursuing education and professional careers.

“Empowering women is not just a government project — it is part of the Pakistan People’s Party’s social and political philosophy,” he stated. “This is the continuation of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s vision for a more inclusive and empowered society.”

Part of Broader Public Transport Reforms

The Pink Scooty Scheme complements Sindh’s expanding network of public transport initiatives, including the People’s Bus Service, Pink Bus Service, and Electric Bus Service — all designed to provide affordable and reliable urban transport.

Sharjeel noted that these projects collectively aim to transform Karachi’s mobility infrastructure, ensuring safer and more accessible transport for women and the general public alike.

Public Response and Future Outlook

The initiative’s first phase saw enthusiastic participation from women across the province, with numerous training sessions and license issuance drives conducted in collaboration with transport and traffic departments.

The provincial government hopes that the program’s second phase will further expand access to women across Sindh’s urban and rural areas, reinforcing the administration’s long-standing commitment to gender equality and social development. By expanding the Pink Scooty Scheme, the Sindh government continues to build on its mission to promote safe, equitable, and sustainable transport options for women. The initiative stands as a testament to the PPP’s dedication to empowering women and realizing Benazir Bhutto’s vision of progress through inclusion.
