Using SIMs Registered to Others Could Land You in Trouble PTA Cautions

PTA urges responsible use of telecommunications connections

PTA Reiterates SIM Registration Rules

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has reiterated that all mobile SIM cards must be registered in the name of the person using them. The regulator warned that using SIMs registered to others constitutes a violation of regulations and may result in action against both parties.

Responsibility of Registered Subscribers

PTA clarified that the registered subscriber is fully accountable for any calls, messages, or data usage conducted via their SIM. Any misuse of SIM cards by someone other than the registered owner will be considered a breach of rules, with legal consequences possible.

Ensuring Responsible Telecom Usage

The authority stressed that subscribers must ensure responsible use of their telecommunications connections. Users are individually liable for all activities conducted through their SIM cards or devices, and compliance with telecom regulations is mandatory.

Curbing Illegal Activities

This clarification comes amid ongoing efforts by PTA to prevent illegal activities facilitated through unregistered or improperly used SIMs. Authorities aim to ensure accountability and maintain security across the telecom sector in Pakistan.
